 Role Description

This is a full time onsite role for an Addiction Recovery Counselor. The counselor will assist clients in addressing and overcoming their addiction challenges by developing recovery plans, offering counseling sessions, and providing education on addiction and coping mechanisms. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, supporting clients in group or one-on-one settings, and maintaining accurate client records to track progress.

1.Experience in counseling, addiction recovery, and mental health support

2.Skills in active listening, empathy, and crisis intervention

3.Strong written and verbal communication abilities

4.Familiarity with developing personalized recovery plans and tracking progress

5.Knowledge of addiction treatment methods and best practices

6.BSc or Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred

7. Relevant licensure or certification in addiction counseling or therapy (e.g., Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Addiction Counselor) is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured one-to-one counselling sessions across different stages of recovery
  • Facilitate weekly group sessions using the S2S curriculum
  • Conduct participant assessments using tools such as Core-10 and Readiness to Change Questionnaire (RCQ)
  • Adapt interventions based on individual needs, motivation, and progress
  • Create a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment
  • Support participants in managing relapse with both compassion and accountability
  • Maintain accurate session notes, risk assessments, and clinical documentation
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately
  • Signpost participants to aftercare and community-based support

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Counselling or Psychology.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in counselling, mental health, or addiction support
  • Experience delivering both individual and group interventions
  • Working knowledge of CBT frameworks and techniques
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Ability to balance empathy with accountability in client work
  • Strong, active Christian faith, with the ability to confidently and appropriately integrate Biblical principles into therapeutic work
  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals at different levels of faith and readiness

Commitment
-Weekly delivery:
-1:1 sessions (~60 minutes each)
-Group sessions (~120 minutes)
-Time allocated for session preparation and documentation
-Mandatory monthly external clinical supervision (minimum 1 hour)
